With only few days to enjoy the 40 pieces of black and white photography that Hiroshi Sugimoto prepared as a tribute to the old Flemish Masters, this weekend still seems the right moment to visit the exhibition.

All the greatness of painting always comes from the depiction of reality, light and details were a consequence of technical talent, and that was the beginning of every ancient masterpiece of art. But nowadays that virtuosity supported by the technique has been replaced by the photographic practice, a practice that with less effort permit the capture of moments with a visual aesthetic more realistic that never before was reach by artists. The group of pictures presented at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium has been developed with an emphasis to emulate the traditional imagery established by the Flemish Master painters.

This way, Hiroshi Sugimoto shows portraits of Catherine Howard and Henry VIII with very delicate and fine details in the pictures. Both tributes to the opulence and power that always has been part of the classical portraiture of that time. Also, it will be possible to enjoy that magnificent wildlife landscapes elaborated by the Japanese photographer, real exotic animals for those who have grown up in the splendor of captive buildings of civilized European cities of the Renaissance. A frontal visual knock out to enjoy only until 19 August 2018.
