With depictions full of visual tension, the british painter Alan Parry continues delivering beautiful landscapes of a mystical reality. Based on idyllic gardens, Parry chooses the elegance of geometrical traces to add order to the canvas. Trees and flowers are distributed to delightfully capture the attention of the gaze. Mostly embraced by the dreamy natural surroundings, female characters occupied as the center of the composition are included.
The quietly images are always perturbed by strange guests; they are a mix of apparitions and reality, a mix of fairy tales and intrigues. The spectator must keep an eye trying to solve the disturbing mystery. So, the pictures are static narratives to be interpreting. With about 30 pieces of art, Parry leads the audience without afraid to a walk through the silent “Alice in Wonderland forest”. The main story occurs in those moments when people, in the calm of the afternoon in the countryside, turns their heads around, and suddenly discovers these mysterious vigilant women: “The Path” and “Pied Beauty” are part of these cases.
In “A Quite Place”, the confrontation with the happy walkers is direct; you could imagine a rough cavalry man crossing in company of his bride the castle garden after a kind banquet, in minutes, the young spirit of the first love appears, a nostalgic memory from the youth years. The love lost by the persistent ambition of a man looking for a social position. And over the years, this confrontation becomes indifference. In “White Parasol” the youth is transform in maturity, in red and white, the lady keeps her face hidden, seeing to the house and not to the walkers, she waits while the trees reflect their shadows on the ground, is an outstanding day, and the moment claims for a decision.
