Mostly based on artwork from Kenyan artists, 2017 Circle Art Auction is going to be celebrated this Monday February 27. The 4th edition of this Contemporary and Modern East African art auction runs within paintings and some sculptural pieces. There will be an onsite preview of the Lots at Nairobi’s Circle Art Gallery from 6-24 February to finally arrive to the auction place. The procedure to be listed as buyer is already open. 54 artwork pieces will be available.
The rank prices of the initial offer goes from US$650 for little pieces to US$15,000 for the painting “Too Tasteful” by recognize Sudanese painter Rashid Diab, undoubtedly one of the stars of the show; but it is not the only one, Eria Nsubaga – Uganda, with his “The Stare Down” painting: a depiction of contemporary African man; the beautiful composition by Geraldine Robarts’ “Still life in Studio”; the white skinned temperament on the “Untitled” woodcut by Ethiopian Ephrem Solomon; the iconographic “Mother and Child” by Geoffrey Mukasa, the psychological suffering in “Regression Graph” by
Boniface Maina – Kenya; the multiplying human bodies flowing through modernity in Dawit Abebe’s drawing; the society critic in “New Democracy” by
Shabu Mwangi and the subtle and deep “Untitled” artwork by Paul Ondity are also remarkable highlights of the event.
