Devoted to film history the Multimedia Art Museum Moscow has dedicated a space to exhibit the artwork of one of the most influential directors in world cinematography: Sergei Eisenstein. Frequently revisited, Eisenstein’s texts on film theory and his renowned visual narrative expose at “Battleship Potemkin” continue been an obligated reference for academic students instructed as film makers as well as cinema lovers all over the world. The show has been named “Montage of Attractions” in reference to his 1923 famous essay, essay where Eisenstein, still working in the world of theatre, expose his definition of “Attraction” as a primary element in structuring the theatrical narrative of a show, element transferred later to his filmography. Sketches of scenery and costumes, artefacts, posters, portraits taken by famous Russian photographers, photo series documenting director’s work at Proletkult as well as drawings done by Eisenstein are showed while the visitor is involved by projections of his films.



The “Montage of Attractions” runs until March 10, 2017.
